Ha
Tay Industry was earlier founded at the beginning of 1950s with many
traditional occupations and trade villages well-known locally and
internationally: Van Phuc silk weaving, Chuyen My Pearl inlaying, rattan
knitting in Ninh So - Thuong Tin, Phu Vinh - Chuong My, Thanh Thuy
sculpturing - Thanh Oai, Quat Dong lace-embroidering - Thuong Tin, Da Sy
knife and scissors - Ha Dong, that have been present for several hundred
of years.
From 1956 - 1965, Ha
Tay Industry mainly served the resistance war against the American
Empire and economic development in the two provinces: Ha Dong and
Son Tay. In 1956, there were fours state-owned enterprises and joint
state and private companies with 351 employees and 58,000 workers of
small-scale industry.
In 1965, Ha Dong
industry and Son Tay industry were incorporated into Ha Tay industry
having 44 state-owned enterprises and joint state and private
companies, including 5,500 employees and over 70,000 workers of
small-scale industry.
In 1976, Ha Tay
province was incorporated with Hoa Binh and to the year 1961 it was
again divided into two provinces: Ha Tay and Hoa Binh.
In moving to the
renovation era: Ha Tay has been one of eight key economic provinces
of the North Delta Region - North Central Coast, which is very
adjacent to the economic triangle: Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh;
the whole industry has been strongly developed both in depth and
width.
Up
to now, Ha Tay industry has got 38 state-run enterprises, 44
foreign-invested enterprises, 500 private enterprises, limited
companies, joint stock companies, 61 cooperatives, hundreds of
production units and 1,116 trade villages, among which 160 villages have
been acknowledged by the provincial People’s Committee as its standardized trade villages having 186 employees – 7.75% the whole
population and 75 production households in field of industry and
small-scale industry.
From 2000 to now, average growth speed has been highly achieved;
production value of industry and small-scale industry was VND 6,020
billion, up 17.65% compared with 2002, which pushed the structure of
industry - construction to over 35.94% GDP of the province.
